Running In Different Temps.

Adam- Running in the cold is going to be harder because it is harder because you will get slower as you run because you re not use to running in cold weather. Most people do better running in the cold because it is cold and you are hot so it makes it better.

E-Experiment
Materials-
1. Stopwatch
2. Test runner (Quinn)
3. Place to run (track and gym)
4. Shoes
5. Shorts
6. Sweatshirt
7. Permission slip
8. People to track time (Redmon and Adam)
9. Tape Measure

Procedures-

Our first step of the experiment was for the test subject to run the hundred yard dash outside on the track. The weather/temperature of the time we ran outside was 39 degrees F, it was raining, and there was 14 mph winds. Then we have to measure the distance in the gym of 100 m. Once we measured the distance of 100 m inside the gym, we had the test subject run the distance. We timed all the tests and repeated each of the runs a second time. We then recorded the results in excel and created a graph to show our results (the graph in the observations section).

Variables-
Constant Variables- Things that runner is wearing/ Weather when you do second test in same place/distance the runner is running/where the runner is running when they do the run in same place/
Independent Variables- speed runner is running/speed wind is
Dependent Variables- the runners time
Control- we are comparing the first test to the second test, seeing which one was ran faster/ we compared the two places the runner ran to the average

O-Observation

Our observation was that running outside took less time by about two seconds. The traction outside was awful because we were not expecting rain and high winds on the day of our experiment. Cramping was not a problem for our test subject as he ran perfectly fine all four times. Our predictions were, for the most part, typically correct. The test subject ran faster by a little inside the gym than when he ran outside on the track, as our graph shows. The weather probably had a great factor on if our test subject could run faster/slower. When the thermometer reads 39 degrees and the winds are all the way up to 14 mph, then there is a chance that the weather definitely effects the runner.

Adam- The colder weather might be harder to run in because you get cold then your body is cold and slows down and when you are in the warm it is easier to run because your body is use to the temp. and helps you run. I think the rain made it harder to run because you can slip and it makes it colder

How Basketball Has Chaged Over Time

Authors Note:I’m writing this piece to learn more about how basketball started and how it is. I would like to have more information in my writing piece because I have not put allot of information in my writing pieces.

Basketball Has been a sport for a long time and is close to being the best sport in history. I Will most likely be the most popular in a few years. It is a interesting way how it started and how it was played back then. Basketball has changed in many ways over the past 100 years.

Out of all the sports made basketball is the most interesting sport on how it was made. It was made in the winter of 1891by James Naismith. James was a physical ed teacher at the YMCA. He made this game because his students were bored and had nothing to do outside because it was to cold out to play baseball or kick a soccer ball around. They were playing soccer, football and lacrosse inside but they were breaking windows and other things. So Dr.Luther Gulick told James to invent a game to play for the kids. James though and though and came up with 13 rules and he said his game would be played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets and you can’t move with the ball you had to pass it. The point of the game was too pass or shoot the ball and the team with the most points was declared the winner. All of James Students were happy there was a new game in the class but the first time they played it one way played it right. The first game played was a score of 1-0. A boy named William Chase scored the first basket with a toss from 25 feet away. One of the kid in James class played the game to some people in his hometown and they all liked it.

They played it many more times in his city to. basketball has changed a lot over time like the rules and were you play it. Back then you would play basketball in a barn now you play it in a gym. Then have all the rules the same mostly but they added a lot. Now you can dribble and a lot more. I think the most difference is dribbling because you can move with the ball because if you can not move with it how are you going to get down court easy. now there are also fouls if you do something you aren’t suppose to do if it can injure someone badly. Basketball I think has changed the most out of all the sports in history because of what you do, use and wear.

Most of the things have changed even though there are a lot of more changes. Some of the rules there are a lot of good rules and there are some okay rules and there are some very bad rules. Most rules in my opinion are good but there are some that are questionable. Most of the rules are made to keep the game same most of the time. If the games isn’t played safe its not good because people play basketball aggressive and get out of hand some times. Most of the game
is based off the rules and play how a team plays. If you have 5 fouls in a game you can not play the rest of the game.

Basketball has changed a lot because it has improved in how it is played. Basketball has changed because they needed money and now basketball really can’t be called a sport because now it is like a business because its all about the money and entertainment for the people and the more popular it is the more money it makes.
